ArticleName: Buryat emotive constructions with the complementizer geže Authors: E. K. Skribnik Ludwig-Maximilians-Universität, Munich, Germanн In the section Linguistics
Abstract: Buryat complex emotive constructions allow dependent clauses of two major types: finite ones with an analytic complementizer derived from an auxiliary quotation verb (geže), and non-finite ones consisting of participles with case affixes. The opposition between finite and non-finite complementation lies in the nature of the stimulus, a real event or a mental construct; it can be seen as an opposition between a first-hand and a non-first-hand information source in dependent clauses («evidential strategy», [Studies in Evidentiality, 2003, р. 18–20]). Keywords: buryat emotive constructions, complementizer geže, opposition non-finite vs. finite dependent clauses, information source Bibliography: |
