Abstract: One of the most interesting lexico-semantic groups, in respect of comparative and historical studying, is the lexicon of a mythological pantheon. In this paper the author considers the names and appellations of the Yakutian mythological water spirits – uu ichchilere. He describes all the known names of water spirits, their functions, the results of the previous researches and presents the results of his own etymological investigations. They concern the conclusions to which he has come about Turkic, Mongolian and Chinese roots of the names of water spirits.
