Abstract: The article explicates the plot of «A Poem about the Sold Veal» (1928) by Vladimir Mayakovsky. The authors recreate poet's personal circumstances as well as his take on the political biography of the poem's protagonist, Maurice Laporte (1901–1987), the founder of the Komsomol. The article establishes connections between Mayakovsky's poetic production of the 1920s and his early futurist poems. Keywords: mayakovsky, laporte, lilya brik, satire, youth communist movement.
