Abstract: Studied is the list of characters in Ostrovskiy's piece «At a lively place» in correlation to the plot. Names and characteristics given in the in fact are reduced motived, which realize in piece's plot. Almost all general motives somehow are declared in the list of characters. Subject of investigation also is the performance by J. Ioffe given in 2008 in Mayakovskiy's theatre. In libretto are lacking many characteristics, but they are recompensed by scenic means. Interesting director's findings, costumes, makeup, scenery. The list of characters / the libretto forms reader's / spectator's keynote of perception, which later on can becorrected. Such characteristics by Ostrovskiy sharply keynote, contain hints at the course ofaction, in the performance corresponding function generally executes the first appearance of character on stage.
