Abstract:

The article makes a number of observations on the text of the novel-tale by M. S. Shaginyan “Mess-Mend, or the Yankees in Petrograd”. The themes and motives related to the autobiographical myth of Shaginyan are revealed, for which her memoir books are involved. Thus, the novel reflects the theme of the symphony orchestra, which is the most important for the philosophical constructions of Shaginyan and for the text of her life. The author suggests that one of the heroines, whose description underwent changes in the second edition of the work, reflected the features of Zinaida Gippius, who played an important role in the biography of Shaginyan.
