Abstract:

Dictionaries of poetic language play a significant role in the comprehension of rare lexical units – words outdated and new, borrowed, stylistically reduced, etc. However, in order to assess the composition and functionality of the poetic lexicon, it is fundamentally important to describe in dictionaries of this type the entire vocabulary with all contexts from the selected sources. This is exactly the purpose of the “Dictionary of the language of Russian Poetry (20th century)”, based on the material of the works of ten prominent poets of the Silver Age. Personal pronouns, which occupy a special place in the poetic language, are given close attention in this Dictionary. With the release of the final X volume, which is currently being worked on, a systematic description of personal pronouns will be completed within the framework of the Dictionary. This study analyzes the dictionary entry “I” prepared for Volume X. By using a large number of illustrative contexts, the specifics of the functioning of the pronoun “I” in the poetic language in comparison with general linguistic usage, the realization of the pragmatic potential of this pronoun as a unit of the poetic lexicon are shown.

Keywords: author lexicography, corpus, linguistic poetics, poetic language, pronoun
