Abstract: This paper examines two concise inscriptions in Old Greek Attic di-alect, which were carved in the sanctuaries of small country Commagene in Asia Minor. Inscriptions dated back to the first century BC and are bright pieces of Hel-lenistic rhetoric, both in style and in content. Both inscriptions in the article are giv-en in full. The author's translation was made from the original language. The cen-tral figure in the inscriptions is its author or customer Commagene king Antiochos I Ervandakan. The inscriptions are written in Asianist style which is typical of and is inevitable for Epideictic eloquence.

Keywords: Hellenism, rhetoric, lapidary inscriptions, Atticist-Asianist contro-versy, epideictic eloquence
