Abstract: The latest volume of Collected Works of Bronislaw Pilsudski edited by Alfred F. Majewicz and published at the turn of the year 2012 has obviously become a landmark event for all specialists in Tungusic studies. The fact of such an impressive corpus of new lexicographic and grammatical materials on the Orok (Ulta), Ulchi (Olchi, Mangun) and Nanai (Goldi) languages and folklore which were collected by the outstanding Polish investigator in the compact habitation areas of the indigenous people of Sakhalin and the Far East in the 19th century and the beginning of the 20th century having been made accessible for the research community is a significant contribution to the world science since these are essentially the first Orok, Ulchi and Nanai language and folklore materials of such a scope. In addition to B. Pilsudski’s materials proper the volume contains the historical-ethnographical essays by Alfred F. Majewicz introducing the description of each language, the complete Tungusic languages bibliography index as well prepared by him and the unique illustrative material. The work of the international research team deserves the highest appraisal and is a valuable contribution to the world science.
