Abstract: The article investigates the French translation of the Quran «Le Coran» by Claude-Étienne Savary as one of the sources of Alexander Pushkin’s «Imitations of the Koran». The role of the Muhammad’s biography «Abrégé de la Vie de Mahomet» for the formation of the Pushkin’s complex of concepts «poet», «prophet», «cave» and «persecution» is studied.
