Abstract: In the context of communicative stylistics of a text the paper determines the place of the cognitive style in the structure of the general idiostyle which, according to the authors’ conception of the communicative stylistics of a text, includes three styles: communicative, cultural-speech, and cognitive, the latter style being subdivided into the substyles: mental-psychological, thesaurus, intellectual, and epistemological. The cognitive style is defined with a glance at the primary and secondary communicative activity (the author’s and the addressee’s).
