Abstract: In the current work the semiotic reconstruction of the personal name transition is being described. The personal name is initially presented as a defining historical and narration element and then we have demonstrated some examples of its transition into the group of common names that characterize culture and society. Personal names from the epic novel «Beowulf» served as the base material for the study in the framework of their transformation and understanding through the work «Around the Babylon Tower» by J. Derrida.
