Abstract: In article considering questions of receptiveness of creative activity of great Russian satiric M.E. Saltykov-Shedrin in Siberian periodical press on materials of Tomsk pre-revolutionary newspapers, that were based by P.I. Makushin: «Siberian newspaper» and «Siberian Life». Discovering relation of provincial publishers to the writer, methods of existence of personages of Shedrin in province journalism.
