Abstract: The paper discusses the metaphysical aspects of the power represented in the novel of I. I. Lazhechnikov «The House of Ice». The literary work provides rich material for the study of the typology of power, methods, and forms of its realization and its transgression. The author uses the ideas of N. A. Berdyaev, A. Kojève, M. M. Bakhtin, E. Canetti, M. Iampolski and other researchers in the analysis. The levels of the power realization in Lazhechnikov’s historical novel are made explicit and described. Revealing the causes of the power crisis during the reign of Anna Ivanovna, the author contrasts the government of her favorite Biron with the strong government principles embodied in the figure of Peter I. Particular attention is paid to the gender aspect of monarch’s power, as well as to the phenomena of body and space.
