Abstract: This paper is dedicated to the phonetic analysis of Andrei Platonov’s play «Barrel Organ». The analysis makes it possible to reveal the ideological content of the play. The author of the paper considers the main phonetic repeats producing not only the atmosphere of ennui, tedium, melancholy, hopelessness, incomprehension and confusion of consciousness but also forming the sound complexes which converge to a bungle in the key words of the play expressing the main sense and ideas of the play. Thus, these phonetic repeats represent anagrams of the concepts which are the most important in the context of the play and all the works by Andrei Platonov (ennui, tedium, institution, superstructure, installation, bourgeoisie, soul, devil, dirigible, barrel organ). Phonetic structure enforces the motifs of the sold soul and barrel organ. Conducted research points out the musical imagery of the play has the great abilities of fiction narrative and an influence on a reader and a spectator.

Keywords: musical imagery, sound symbolism, linguistic of the fiction, andrej platonov
