Abstract: Among Metropolitan Daniil’s works the collection («Sobornik») which includes the author’s 16 chapters («Words») occupies a special place. It shows all specific traits of the work of a writer of the first half of the 16th century. The «Words» of «Sobornik» have three-part structures, but the researchers mark out the third sections in them, which Daniil entitled «Nakazania» («Nakazy»), that means «admonitions». The present paper contests the conclusions of V. Zhmakin, and E. Golubinsky about the role of «Admonitions» in the structure of Daniil’s works and substantiates the definition of Daniil’s works as the pastor’s admonitions which together with the pastor’s precepts are modifications of the genre of amedieval sermon. Also, the paper reveals some features of the narration in «Admonitions», such as perlocution of language, mosaicity of moral admonitions, the affixion of the text’s tie with the other sections of Daniil’s «Words», changeless phrases, types and functions of address, composition elements.

Keywords: metropolitan daniil, «sobornik», preacher’s discourse, admonition, precept, address, changeless phrases
