Issue 3, 2014Pages 31-36
UDK: 82-3DOI:

Abstract: The paper traces the correspondence of Shukshin’s works to the movies starring Shukshin as an actor: «Alyonka» by Boris Barnet, «When the Trees had Grown High» by Lev Kulidzhanov, «We, the Two Men» by Yury Lysenko, «Three Days of Viktor Chernyshov» by Mark Osepyan. The same correspondence is shown to the two movies which Shukshin must have known though they bear no relation to his actor filmography: «A Soldier’s Father» by Revaz Chkheidze and «The Diamond Arm» by Leonid Gaidai. Analysis is also made of the literary works by Shukshin (stories «A First-Class Driver», «Grin’ka Malyugin», «Space, Nervous System, and a Piece of Fat», «A Boss», «A New-Comer», the fairy-tale novel «Till the Third Cockcrow») and his film-director works («There lives Such a Lad», «Stoves and Benches», «Red Snowball Berry»).

Keywords: soviet cinema, director’s strategy, role, actor’s facture, episode, situation, popular movie plot, story, quotation, allusion
