Abstract: The article is devoted to investigation a plot schemes connected with provincial public authority. Metonymical relationship between characters: governors, mayors, policemen, – is researched on the material of the «Native Notes» («Otechestvennye Zapiski», «Russian Bulletin» («Russky Vestnik»), «Spark» («Iskra»). Main variants of realization a plot schemes (as governor-bribe taker, governor-builder (foreman), and governor-pretender) and semantic of these anecdotal stories are considered. Special attention is paid to the study how mainstream themes of creativity and perception of the art (P. Melnikov-Pechersky, M. Stopanovsky) is realized by the provincial con-text. Studied schemes has developed context of the Russian fiction; it’s investigated in relation of classical Russian masterpieces (Saltykov-Schedrin, Leskov, Dostoyevsky). In conclusion, the article summarizes: stories about the governor of the city formed of variability plot-motivic complex, which significantly affects the semantics of the provincial text.
