Abstract:

The rite of circumambulation of courtyards with the singing of congratulatory songs is an integral part of the Easter folklore and ethnographic complex, characteristic of the ethnic territory of Belarus. Volochebnye songs have also been preserved in the Belarusian resettlement tradition in the Siberian-Far Eastern region. The article presents the ethnographic context of their existence in isolation from the maternal tradition; it is established that for Belarusians of Primorye, singing volochebnye songs is not typical. The results of the typological study conducted by the author of the tunes of the volochebnye songs recorded from the descendants of the Belarusian settlers are presented. Archival and published ethnographic descriptions of Easter ritual actions and recordings of volochebnye songs made in the Novosibirsk, Kemerovo, Omsk regions, Krasnoyarsk and Primorsky Territories since the 1970s and up to the present time were used as material for the study. The tunes of the songs of the Siberian Belarusian tradition were considered in relation to the types of tunes of the songs of the maternal tradition, singled out by the Belarusian ethnomusicologist Z. Ya. Mozheyko. Depending on the results of such a comparison, the tunes of Siberian songs are classified by the author of the article as typical, typical modified and non-typical. The tunes of most of the Siberian songs belong to the typical ones, modifications in the typical tunes are insignificant. The author of the article comes to the conclusion about the stability, rigor and unification of the musical organization of the Siberian folk songs.
